These people are trained in the laws of your state, know the educational system in your area and are FREE. They will fight if need be for your child to get the educational programs, needed. These are normally, parents, volunteers that give of their time freely for the children. Every child is entitled to an Advocate.

Lets be honest here, do you know what programs or services needed for your child. You become a team on behalf of a youngster. You are entitled to an independent evaluation. Remember, the key word here is TEAM. You are not along fighting, or bargaining. Your child is entitled to an evaluation, and hearing with you and the childs advocate there. They are like your lawyer. Every school district has advocates, ask for their names. Check out Special Education or SEPTA. SEPTA is Special Education Parent Teachers Association. There are other names but, Special Education or SEPTA are often what will show up. SEPTA are Parents of other Special Education Children, willing to share their knowledge. Put out your hand, they will be there.
